What Are BB Creams? February 22nd, 2018

What are bb creamsBB Creams. It seems like what was once a novelty you could only find on eBay and Amazon are now being made by every beauty brand on the market. Although it’s popularity has increased exponentially in the last 2 years, there are still people out there who have no idea what a BB cream is. Here’s the low-down on the latest industry craze.

First let’s start on how BB creams came to be. BB stands for beauty balm or blemish balms. The first one was developed in Germany by a dermatologist who wanted to simplify the post laser/surgery process for her patients. She was looking to make something that would not only protect and heal the skin after these treatments, but also give coverage. The all-in-one concoction became an instant sensation in South Korea and then the hype spread throughout Asia. With Asian women being the biggest fans of skincare, this was an instant hit. The average woman in Asia has a 7 step skincare routine. The BB cream changed that.

Most BB creams provide sun protection with broad spectrum SPF 15 or higher, what the American Academy of Dermatology recommends as ideal for daily use. High quality BB creams contain zinc oxide and titanium oxide which is a great water-resistant ingredient. In addition to sun protection, they provide sheer cover to give you a “no makeup” look. BB creams blur problem areas and give a nice natural looking complexion. People won’t tell you your makeup looks nice, they’ll say your skin looks nice.

Are you ready to try a BB cream? Here are some tips when choosing one. Make sure you get one with a high SPF. The tint will inhibit any white cast on your face. Go for high quality. Always invest in sunscreen and skincare. Chances are the $3.00 drugstore BB cream will not provide the quality results of a $30-50 one. Don’t skimp when it comes to skincare. Look for US made brands and nothing that may be tested on animals. The last thing you should look for is the ingredient dimenthicone. This skin-smoothing ingredient has the power to act like a foundation and a primer at the same time.

Healthier Skin February 21st, 2018

Vitamin CEach Vitamin is utilized differently in the body. Vitamin D promotes Calcium absorption, vitamin E is an important antioxidant which helps protect cell membranes against free radicals, but vitamin C is one of the most important because of the numerous benefits it serves our system. One crucial property of vitamin C is its effect on our skin due to how it raises our level of Collagen. Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body. It is found in our hair, skin, bones, teeth, organs, and connective tissue. Collagen is necessary for fighting wrinkles, scarring, and hair health, as well as growing and repairing cells and blood vessels. As a person ages, their Collagen creation decreases, causing disease, sagging skin, and joint pain. Vitamin C, an anti-oxidant also known as ascorbic acid, increases Collagen production, creating smoother, healthier skin, and promoting general improvements in all-around health. Because of the effect vitamin C has on Collagen, the threat of free radical damage on our skin is lessened, saving us from skin dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles. Not only does vitamin C destroy free radicals, it actually reverses DNA damage.

Sun Damage

In addition to aiding the internal causes of skin damage, vitamin C is a protector against external forces also. Skin cancer, the most common form of cancer in the United States, is the diagnosis for over 2 million people annually. This is due to carcinogens such as ultraviolet radiation, or X radiation among many others. The sun alone is a huge contribution to ultraviolet radiation, however the tanning bed phenomenon in recent years, which uses ultraviolet emitting lights to bronze the skin, is proven to increase the risk of skin cancer by 69%. Vitamin C isn’t able to cure skin cancer, but what it can do is reduce sunburn caused by ultraviolet radiation and prevent the damage inflicted from long-term sun exposure which may lead to skin cancer. It works by neutralizing those free radicals and replenishing the natural vitamin C in skin cells which reduces due to sun damage. Applying vitamin C topically is the most effective way to reach the cells which require it most.

Vitamin C has a variety of uses from its ability to boost immunities preventing the common seasonal cold, all the way to preventing or aiding types of disease and cancer. Its effectiveness regarding healthier skin and protection against sun damage is proven through over a half century of scientific research. Unfortunately, until recently vitamin C has been virtually ignored in the world of medicine. Dr. Frederick Klenner, an advocate of vitamin C in the early 1940’s, wrote: “Some physicians would stand by and see their patient die rather than use ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) because in their finite minds it exists only as a vitamin.” If we take the knowledge and resources readily available in the modern world we live in, we can all use this ultimate biological antioxidant we call vitamin C to improve our ability to fight the effects of aging, and live longer, healthier lives.

Eye Cream February 21st, 2018

Why you need Eye CreamFew things in life are worse than being told you look “tired”. That’s the politically correct way of telling someone that they look like crap. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re starting to look like you haven’t slept in weeks. Oh, and you’re not fooling people by affectionately calling your crow’s feet “laugh lines”. It’s okay. I’ve been there. Complete disregard of the importance of sunscreen throughout your youth can exaggerate by making you look a decade older than you actually are. Pretty unbelievable.

The first thing you have to do is identify your issues. Do you have puffy eyes? Dark circles? Or are your eyes so dry they are borderline-crusty?

Now that you have that figured out, you have to find an eye cream that will address and help correct these issues. Fun fact: The skin surrounding the eyes is 10 times thinner than the skin on the rest of your face, making it age 36% faster. We’ve taken the cost and guess work out of finding the best eye cream out there and have conducted our own experiment.

We reviewed and tested some of the top rated creams on the market to see which ones actually worked and which are all just marketing hype. There were several contenders, but only one made into “Holy Grail” status. The winner of our “Best Eye Cream” contest was LifeCell All-in-One Anti-Aging Treatment. We picked this one because it targeted every eye area problem we could think of. It reduced the look of bags, wrinkles, puffiness, dryness and discoloration.

Retinol. Retinol is a wrinkle’s number one enemy. It’s the number one dermatologist recommended ingredients to help reduce the look of aging skin. One of LifeCell’s active ingredients is Retinol. The retinol in LifeCell outshines other retional creams because of its ability to speed up cell turnover and help reveal younger looking skin without the look of fine lines and discoloration without irritating the sensitive skin around the eye. After about a minute of putting on LifeCell, crow’s feet looked smoother and far less noticeable. The light reflectors in LifeCell fill in the lines and after about a month of using it as direct, crow;s feet were nearly non-existent.

Bags and Puffiness

Unless you’re a teen novel vampire, dark, puffy bags under your eyes are not attractive. Some people go as far as saying it brings the allure of mystery, but really all they do is make someone look like they’ve been up all night crying, or depending on how dark, like you were punched in the eye. Enter Eyeliss™ . The secret weapon LifeCell has in it’s arsenal of anti aging power. It’s a patented new compound developed in France that is made up of 3 natural and effective peptides that work synergistically to eliminate the cause of unattractive under-eye puffiness. Initial clinical trials of this compound showed that puffiness under the eye reduced by 70%. Eyeliss prevents the capillary fluids from leaking, in turn preventing swelling and puffiness. After using LifeCell for 3 weeks, the difference was unbelievable. Bags diminished. As well as the snarky “rough night?” comments made by my local coffee house’s barista.

Dryness and Discoloration

Many people don’t know this, but the reason skin under the eyes gets darker is not just because of broken capillaries, but also because of excessive dryness. Think of the hylauronic acid in Lifecell as a tall glass of water for your skin. This powerful ingredient holds over 1,000 times its weight in water. It floods your skin with much needed moisture.

Don’t let tired eyes age you. It’s time to give it some TLC with a quality eye cream. LifeCell is not only effective, it’s also hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and NOT tested on animals. At the time of print, the manufacturers of LifeCell were offering 30 day trials of their product to all new customers. Try it out and leave us your own review! Your skin will thank you!

Skin Tightening Uncovered February 21st, 2018

Skin TighteningLooking in the mirror and seeing your skin beginning to sag can be the wakeup call you need to start looking into altering your skincare routine. Sagging skin is argued to be the most prominent sign of aging. Wrinkles made the cut too, but even people in their late 20’s have them from laughing or squinting too much. Loose skin is a skin concern that comes with getting older.

The older you get, the less oil your skin produces. This makes it become dry and loose. So not only does your skin look old, but it starts to feel old too. Nowadays theres a cosmetic procedure to fix just about anything, especially sagging skin. These are all invasive and come with added weeks of recovery time. What many people don’t know is that there are a few ways to see tighter and younger-looking skin without the need of having to go under the knife. The most recommended way is going the route of topical skin tightening treatments.

First things first, when you begging looking for a topical skin tightening treatment, it’s imperative to be knowledgeable and understand how topical wrinkles creams and topical skin tighteners are both different from each other. For the most part, consumers focus mainly on anti-wrinkle creams when it comes to treating their skin. These treatments only help smooth out wrinkles, they don’t do anything for loss of firmness. This is why people lose hope and opt for invasive and dangerous procedures.

If your ultimate goal is to tighten sagging skin that has lost its firmness, you’re going to have to start using an anti-aging treatment. These usually come in the form of creams or serums. Most products that label themselves as anything “anti-aging” are meant to focus on the overall aspect of aging, unlike a wrinkle cream that only focuses on lines. Don’t forget, aging isn’t just the look of wrinkles, it’s loose, sagging skin, uneven skin tone and loss of radiance.

Look for a high-quality anti aging treatment that includes skin firming components like the ingredient DMAE which studies have concluded that it has the ability to not only tighten and firm the skin, but also firm up and tone the underlying muscles to give the face a leaner appearance. Also look for Ubiquione. It’s a super antioxidant that aids our body’s ability to produce collagen, elastin and all the important skin molecules that help our skin look young and healthy.

Make sure to avoid products containing any sort of “artificial collagen”. Products like these only give a temporary result and don’t actually give long term effects. We all know our skin requires collagen to look younger and firmer, but once we hit 25, collagen production starts to slow down. Look at this way, imagine you have a factory that is losing workers every single year, and then eventually it goes out of business. That’s how collagen works. A product that contains DMAE and Ubiquinone work by boosting the production of elastin and collage, ensuring the factory stays open, thus keeping your skin young and wrinkle free.

The key part of finding the best anti-aging treatment lies in reading product reviews and making a point of trying out the product. We all have different skin and it reacts differently. That being said, we recommend a product that is not tested on animals, as well as hypoallergenic. Products are constantly reviewed and the one that shined amongst the group was a cream called LifeCell All-in-One Anti-Aging Treatment. It’s the only one we found that made a point of targeting every aspect of aging skin. Sagging skin, wrinkles, dryness, discoloration and loss of radiance. LifeCell also contains quality amounts of the aforementioned skin firming ingredients, as well as more age-fighting ingredients.
