Crème De La Mer

Overview

The original Crème De La Mer was founded by Max Huber, an aerospace physicist, who suffered an accident where he had severe chemical burns. Twelve years later, he completed the formulation of this cream, to help achieve softer, smoother, virtually creaseless looking skin.

Crème De La Mer works to make aging lines and pores less visible.

Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston have been said to be big fans.

What makes this cream special?

The advertising for this product actually says there is nothing miraculous about the ingredients on their own. What makes this cream unique and effective is the special 3-4 month ‘bio-fermentation process’ the ingredients undergo, and how the ingredients then work synergistically together as a whole.

In fact, the company even admits: “It’s not entirely clear how Crème de la Mer works!”
This is in line with what we’ve found, as while there are certainly some good ingredients here, we weren’t overly-impressed with the ingredient list by itself.

Some of main ingredients:

The spotlight ingredient is seaweed extract. This may provide some good benefits to your skin, which include anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. But as Susan Brawley, professor of plant biology at the university of Maine, points out: “Seaweed extract isn’t a rare, exotic or expensive ingredient.”

Other ingredients include mineral oil and other effective vitamins and anti-oxidants.

Only a small amount of preservatives are needed and placed in this cream, which we like.

Other notes:

If you have very dry skin, this may work well for you.

Interestingly, this cream is also individually hand-filled. We can’t be sure if this gives you any extra specific benefits, but it surely feels more prestigious.

However, this cream comes in jar packaging. So no matter how effective the seaweed extract and anti-oxidants are, they become unstable when exposed.

One of the drawbacks to this crème is that it contains eucalyptus oil, which can be irritating for all skin types. It also contains Kathon CG, another irritating ingredient that is actually recommended for use only in products that are intended to be rinsed off.

Price:

$130 per ounce.

Money back guarantee:

We couldn’t find the length of their return policy on their website, so we called them to find out. They told us we can return it at anytime, which is as generous a return policy as it gets!

Shipping:

They offer free shipping on the main website.

Replenishment program:

They have an auto-ship program where you can receive a fresh supply every 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 or 120 days, whichever you decide to set it you. You can cancel or change your replenishments at any time on this program without any penalty.

My skin has changed since entering menopause, nothing helped, so i started using the La Mer Soft Cream, and I noticed a difference that my skin looks brighter and smoother

I did see a reduction in wrinkles, but not as much as I hoped for this price. I will evaluate it for a longer time to see what happens.

I have tight, dry and sensitive skin, and this hydrates my skin very well.

Buy it! Make sure to get the original formula. It’s not a miracle cream just like nothing is a miracle cream by itself, but it’s a great moisturizer especially if you are over 50 years old. It feels like silk on your skin.

At my La Mer counter I got a few samples, have been using this for over a month and I love it. I worried I would break out because I have sensitive skin but I did not. If you have oily skin you should just use less of this product. My skin looks and feels smooth, and my fiancé told me it looks amazing.

I like La Mer, but a lot of this product goes to waste when I warm it up on my fingers, and it’s not cheap for a one-ounce jar. I’d say get it if you can afford it.

Using it for 3 weeks it works for me. It brightens my skin and I see fewer wrinkles. The most drastic change is even tone. I was hoping it would help with my dark circles but there was no change there.

Didn’t meet my expectations. I thought it would help even my skin tone, calm my skin, and help with my winkles, but it didn’t. My skin did feel moisturized, but for a little while.

I use a lighter cream in the day and added La Mer at night, and I’ve been getting complimented on my skin after using it for a month. Definitely happy with it.

I decided to purchase this to see what they hype is all about. It seems to share a lot of the same ingredients as nivea, smells like it and feels like it, so I don’t think its worth the money. It was a nice try and it did make my skin feel very soft.

Very happy with this moisturizer. It keeps my face hydrated. It has beautiful packaging and I love the smell of it!
