What are the causes of puffy eyes?

It may be due to inflammation, reaction due to allergy, stressed, lack of sleep or any combinations of the factors mentioned. Below are the causes of puffy eyes that you should be aware:

Sun Damage – The rays of the sun can do a lot of harmful effects to your skin such as wrinkles, skin discoloration and puffy eyes are of them too. That’s why it is always recommended to use sunscreen and wear eye glasses with sun glasses with UV protection to avoid problems that it may affect the skin. The skin around the eyes is very sensitive and delicate part therefore you should be very much aware of that.

Crying – Going through a lot of stress and problems in life can make us feel depress and sad and this is one of the reasons that we became too emotional and shed tears. This can cause inflammation around the eyes that leads to puffy eyes plus you will have a tendency to wipe it too hard while crying.  Try to cool down and divert your attention to help yourself so the puffiness won’t get worse.

Affected by Irritants – Puffiness can also be the cause of being exposed to harsh skincare products that can irritate your skin especially that the skin around the eyes is very sensitive. Also beware of the following ingredients: alcohol, menthol, essential oils, or any fragrant type that should not be come into contact with your skin or that can cause irritation.

Makeup – Don’t sleep without washing your face. It can harm your skin and can cause irritation and trigger puffy eyes. Be sure to cleanse your face with a mild cleanser that would suit your skin and can very well remove all make up residue. So, before you go to bed be sure your skin is clean and well moisturized.

Food you eat daily – Check on your daily diet. Eat healthy by including more fruits and vegetables to have healthy skin. Avoid alcohol and processed foods that has more salt content because it can cause eye puffiness due to water retention. Instead, drink lots of water at least eight glasses daily. Your daily intake is one of the most important factors to consider.
