Vegetable Oils Uncovered

Some people (even professionals) suggest common cooking oils are harmless to the skin and healthy for the body…but the truth about the effects these oils produce may be a bit startling.

Well, first let’s clarify which oils to look out for and why.

Corn, soybean, canola, and various other types of “vegetable oils” are proven to not only be unhealthy for you, but they actually accelerate aging as well. The reason these oils are harmful is due to the extensive refining process they go through during creation.

Chemical solvents such as hexane are used during the long heating phases. This results in more free radicals to be produced, possible cell membrane damage, internal inflammation, and many other potential health problems.

So why do we still use them?

Unfortunately, the “bad” oils are the most affordable. The best thing you can do is check the nutrition label for the oils listed above, and try to cut down on consuming them, or replace them with healthier substitutes.

Oils such as extra-virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or virgin coconut oil are phenomenal replacements for those unhealthy “vegetable oils”. The reason these oils are so much safer to consume are the minimal amount of polysaturated fats they contain. Instead, these precious oils contain mostly natural saturated fats which are the least reactive to heat, therefore they won’t cause inflammation.

Reducing the amount of polysaturated fats you consume will result in healthier skin, and lower your chances of heart disease and other health problems. All it takes is a bit of knowledge, and discipline to shift your habits and renew your skin.
